The American Cancer Society Cattle Baron’s Ball planning committee brought bling and fashion to Akron on Thursday evening. The style show and ball featured food stations, shopping and a runway show at the Tangier restaurant. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Ann Manby and Dana Hower co-chaired the fashion show. “We have professional lighting this year and a lot of upgrades,” Manby said.Suzanne Flowers chaired the diva committee, saying, “I am a two-time cancer survivor, so I do this so my daughter doesn’t have to go through what I did with cancer.” Diva members included Bill Willis, Jennifer Wells, Jaime Umerley, Janey Ames, Stacey Koutrodimous, Dave Yeager, Larry Pentecost, Lauren Davis, Lisa Broerman, Tamara Boyazis, Debbie Mc-Kinney and Sherri Brown. Kristen Francis assembled gift bags with samples of coffee, shampoo and other items. First-time model Jean Foust wore a hat with a flower bow to complement her outfit. Vendor Denise Wigley wanted to reach out to women and brought along a variety of candles and light products. “My mom and brother died of cancer, so this is important to me,” commented Beijo Bags distributor Bonnie Sabol. Model Jenny Booher said, “I am a cancer survivor, so I am just glad to be a part of this.” Kristin Peel enjoyed modeling in the show last year so decided to come back. Terri and Amy Bisesi came to support friends in the fashion show. “I’ve met a lot of nice women through this group,” said Carol Gilbert. Her friend Annette Bader added, “Everyone has been touched by cancer sometime in their lives, and I just feel very strong about the cause and being here.”
